How to Watch IPTV on LG Smart TV

March 27, 20267 min read

LG Smart TVs run webOS, a distinct operating system from Samsung's Tizen or Android TV, with its own dedicated app marketplace called the LG Content Store. As with other smart TV platforms, whether a dedicated IPTV player is available there depends on your TV's model and region, so it's worth checking before assuming you'll need a workaround.

This guide walks through searching the LG Content Store, logging into IPTVON on a native app if one's available, and the fallback options if webOS doesn't carry what you need.

Searching the LG Content Store

  • Press the Home button on your LG Magic Remote
  • Select LG Content Store from the row of apps
  • Use the search function to look for an IPTV player such as IPTV Smarters Pro
  • If it's listed, select Install, then open the app once it finishes

Entering Your IPTVON Login

Open the installed player and look for an Add User, Login or Xtream Codes API screen. Use the Magic Remote's pointer or directional buttons to enter the server URL, username and password from your IPTVON welcome message, or select the M3U option if you were sent a playlist link instead. Save the profile and give the app a moment to load your channels, VOD library and EPG.

If the LG Content Store Doesn't Have a Suitable App

webOS's app catalog is smaller and more curated than Android TV's or Fire OS's, and it doesn't include every IPTV player. If your search comes up empty or the available option doesn't work well, connecting an external device — a Firestick, Android TV box, or Chromecast with Google TV — to an HDMI port gives you access to a fuller app store and any of the players covered in our IPTV on Smart TV guide.

Using Screen Share as a Backup

LG's Screen Share feature mirrors a phone or computer display to the TV and can serve as a temporary option while you settle on a permanent setup. Open Screen Share from the LG TV's source menu, connect from your mobile device or computer, and start your IPTV app there to display it on screen. Because the video passes through your phone or computer before reaching the TV, this method generally uses more bandwidth and is less stable than a native app or an external streaming device, so it's better suited to occasional use than daily viewing.
